Software setup checklist

Are you ready to get your software set up? Go through the following checklist to ensure you didn't miss anything. Click the links below for more information.

1st Step: Initial Setup

  • ❏ Complete the Facility Setup after logging in to your software. (Refer to your Welcome email for the link)
  • ❏ Submit an application for payment processing
  • ❏ Submit an application for Tenant Protection by submitting this form

2nd Step: Enter Data

  • ❏ Make all of your unit types (unit sizes)
  • ❏ Enter all your units
  • ❏ Create your site map or send a labeled facility layout to the support team to create
  • ❏ Enter your rental agreement/Lease or send a text file like a Word doc to the support team to input
  • ❏ Import your customers or you can send the completed customer import template spreadsheet to the support team for input.
  • ❏ Rent each customer their unit(s)

    **When  sending information to the support team, please send documents to support@storageunitsoftware.com, this is the best email to send support requests to. Please include in the email subject line "Customer Import", "Sitemap" or "Rental Agreement"

Final Step: Settings review

  • ❏ Add a unique Logo and any Facility photos or send them to support.
  • ❏ Choose a billing and reminder period
  • ❏ Setup notifications you want the manager to receive
  • ❏ Prorating? Setup prorating (if applicable)
  • ❏ Read, edit, and enable the templates you want to use/send out. It is up to the owner/manager to ensure that these templates contain correct information pertaining to the facility.
  • ❏ Add in your late fees/rules, your lockout fees/rules, and determine if you want the software to generate your auction dates
  • ❏ Call the support team to integrate your gate (if applicable)
  • ❏ Taxes? Create a tax rate (if applicable)
  • ❏ Review your field settings to ensure customers are providing necessary information when they rent a unit online. Also, if needed, create custom field settings for information you want to collect from the tenant when they are creating their account.
  • ❏ (Optional) Two-Way Text Messaging. If you would like the ability to send and receive text messages directly to and from your tenants within the software, please enable Two-way Texting, choose a number, and register your brand
  • ❏ Review your website and make any necessary edits or changes to the content. 
  • ❏ Review the facility information by going to Setup > Contact to ensure that all information is correct.
    These addresses will show on invoices and in notifications.  Remove any personal information if it was provided during software sign-up. Learn about template placeholders.
  • ❏ If you own a domain/URL that needs to be associated with your new website or if you need ESS to purchase a domain for you, please email or call support for assistance or visit our support guide here.
  • ❏ Give customers the ability to rent online
