Enable and send Two-Way Text Messages

⚠️ This article applies to customers in the United States and Canada.

Enable two-way texting

To enable Two-Way Text Messaging, hover over the Email, Txt & Print tab and click Text Messages.

Click Enable Two-way texting and enter an area code to see a list of phone numbers to choose from.

You will then need to register your Two-Way texting number. Please refer to THIS ARTICLE for further information and instructions on how to register your Two-way texting number.

Send a message

Once your brand has been approved and your two-way texting number is active, you will be able to send text messages to your tenants and utilize the text-to-open feature with the Access Control gate system.

To send a text message, go to the customers account page and click the blue Text Message button next to the tenant's cell phone number. Type your message and attach a file if you would like to. Then click Send

If you get a response from the customer, you will see a red number icon at the top of the screen on the  Email, Txt & Print tab. Click on this to see the new response.

Text message restrictions

SMS registration

Your brand and phone number/s used to text customers must be registered. Mobile carriers will block text messages that are sent from unregistered business phone numbers. You can read more about this requirement and the registration in our article: Registering your SMS phone numbers.

Prohibited text message content

There are a number of messaging use cases that are not allowed in the United States or Canada. Easy Storage Solutions users are prohibited from using Easy Storage Solutions SMS capabilities for these activities. You can view more details and a list of prohibited messaging categories that apply to long code messaging (A2P 10DLC) and Toll-Free messaging on our messaging partner's website.

U.K. phone numbers

If any of your tenants have U.K. phone numbers, they will be unable to receive text messages sent from U.S. numbers. Due to policy changes implemented on June 1, 2023 by U.K. based mobile carries, text messages that originate from outside of the U.K. will be blocked.
