Website basics

The tools under the Website tab can make the difference between a good and a phenomenal website. Here is a basic guide explaining how to maximize the potential of your website.

Pages

The first thing to understand about your website is the pages and how they work. The software automatically comes with four pages; however, you can make more by clicking the Add Page button under Website > Pages. You can also Clone a page to make an exact duplicate.

When you create a new page, you will see different fields which are explained briefly below:

Title: This title is solely for your benefit. As you can see in the screenshot above, there are four original pages. The top one is called Home. This is the title. This title can only be seen right here in the Website >Pages tab.

Slug: The slug is the identifier in which you will access this page. If you look at the URL for your login page on your website, it should show something to the effect of... https://www.yourdomainname.storageunitsoftware.com/login

This URL ends in '/login' which is the slug for the login page.

Tab Name: The tab name is what will actually show on your site.

Choose what you name your tabs carefully. Your customers and everyone visiting your site will be able to see your tab names.

Meta Keywords: This field is used for SEO/Marketing purposes and is not required.
Meta Description: This field is used for SEO/Marketing purposes and is not required.
Footer Button: The footer button would be shown on every page of the software at the very bottom of the page, it will link to the page you are creating. This field is not required.
Login Form Link: This field creates a link on the login page that will forward them to the page you create in the software. This field is not required.

Widgets

Widgets are tools used in designing your website. To add a widget, go to your Website tab > Pages. Click edit next to your desired tab.

From here, scroll all the way down to the bottom. You will see both current widgets and also a dropdown box to add a new widget.

Under the dropdown, you will see the different widgets available including a Google map, an image carousel, available unit types, etc. Select the widget you wish to include on your page, and click Add.

In the example below, the three-column widget has multiple titles. The Widget Title is large and covers about 2/3 the screen. The Section Title is smaller and hovers just above the content section.

The content area is the meat of your message—where you type your paragraphs or insert images, videos, etc. There are some tools, as shown below, for editing text and adding hyperlinks. The far right box, as shown below, is an HTML section, which shows your content in HTML format. You can paste embedded code into this section for videos, maps, weather stickers, etc.

Make a payment/login button

To add a login button or if you no longer see the login button for your site, navigate to the Website tab and click Settings.

Scroll down to the Images & Text section and ensure there is text entered in the Login button text field. You can  change the default wording if you want it to say something other than Make a Payment/Login.
