Connecting ESS to a domain

When you're ready to publish your Easy Storage Solutions Software on the web as a website, we need to connect your ESS software to the Domain or URL that customers will type in to find your website.

If you do not have a domain and you need assistance with purchasing and connecting a domain, please contact our support team at 435-656-1990 opt 1 for additional assistance.

Once you have a domain, you can follow the instructions listed below to log into your hosting company/registrar's website and update the DNS setting to point and forward your domain to the Easy Storage Software.

1. Add or edit the CNAME record.

    • Type: CNAME

    • Name/Host/Alias: www

    • Data/Value/Answer/Destination: aws.storageunitsoftware.com (Some registrars require a “.” at the end of this, but not all.)

2. Create a 301 (permanent forwarding) redirect to your domain.

    • Name/Host/Alias: @

    • Type: URL redirect (301 perm forwarding)

    • Data/Value/Answer/Destination: https://www.thedomainnamehere.com

3. Registrar default nameservers that will be used.

    • When you connect ESS to a domain via the DNS, it is very important to make sure that you update the nameservers and use the default nameservers for the registrar that is hosting your domain. By using the default nameservers, registrars can ensure that security protocols are strictly followed, minimizing the risk of malicious activities or website outages.

    • If the domain is transferred from one registrar to another, DNS settings (including Nameservers) are carried over from the previous registrar. It is important to update these to the default nameservers so that if any problem happens in the future, the registrar will be willing to help you troubleshoot nameservers.

Instructions can be found below for the domain host you use. If you use another domain host, the best next step is to find out which Host/Registrar you are using and Google Search "How do I add a CName using __host/registrar__?" or "How do I add a 301 redirect using __host/registrar__?" for instructions from their support sites. If you need assistance with this process, please contact our support team for further assistance, we would be happy to help you.
