How do I import data from ESS to QuickBooks without integrating?

If you choose not to integrate your ESS software with QuickBooks or use the desktop version, you have a few options to export your data from ESS and import it into QuickBooks. If you do not want to connect the ESS software to QB online and you want your desktop version to have income and expense transaction activity, we recommend you link your online banking to your QuickBooks desktop version.

⚠️ If you are planning to convert from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online do NOT upload your customers (and their transaction history) from the Desktop to the Online version. This will make the future integration between the Easy Storage Software and QuickBooks Online difficult.

Option 1

Import data into QuickBooks Online using .csv files of Easy Storage reports.

Log onto ESS> Reports> [Choose report and date range]> “Export CSV” button in the top right.

Pro: Data can be manipulated in Excel before importing to QuickBooks Online. Con: Data will need to be pulled from multiple ESS reports. Note: Not available for all reports, PDF button will not work.

Option 2

Import data into QuickBooks Desktop using “QuickBooks formatted QuickBooks Online file”.

Log onto ESS> Hover Over “Setup”> Click on “QuickBooks”> Click on “QuickBooks formatted QuickBooks Online file” button in the top right.

Pro:Will provide all the same data as the integration in one file. Con: Will not import if customer names are too long or have special characters.  Note:For QuickBooks Desktop only, file type will not import into QuickBooks Online.

Note: In this case” QBO” does not stand for “QuickBooks Online'' and will not import into QuickBooks Online. It will only import data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Option 3

Visual review of monthly report totals & manual journal entry into bookkeeping software.

Pro:Can be the most time-efficient. Con: Books will be less accurate during the middle of the month Note: Most owners who choose not to integrate choose this option.
