How does a customer rent online?

If you have enabled online move-ins, your customers can rent units online with a credit card, debit card, or via ACH. They will follow the steps below to rent a unit online.

1. On your website home page, the customer will click the Rent Storage or Rent a Unit (this button may be different on your site).

2. They will find the unit type they want to rent and click Rent Now. 

3. Based on your settings, they can select the unit, or the software will select the unit automatically. They will click Rent Now.

The checkout experience shown below has been updated as of December 2025 to make tenant checkout faster and easier to complete.

4. In the first step of checkout, the tenant will fill in their personal information and create login credentials. They can select a Protection Plan if you offer tenant protection plans in either step one or two.

5. On the next step, the tenant will enter their billing and payment information. You’ll notice that the pricing module on the right remains present, clearly communicating the impact of your promotions and how much they’ll pay. This transparency helps reassure your leads that this offer is right for them.

6. On the last step, the tenant will review and sign the rental agreement. At this point, the tenant is unable to make adjustments to their unit or tenant protection, as this would change the terms of their lease.

7. The tenant will click Submit and Pay and will then see a confirmation page.
