How do I customize form fields?

You can choose which fields show on the rental signup and waiting list forms used by customers and managers when creating or editing a tenant account. 

To access your form field settings, hover over the Customers dropdown and click Field Settings.

You’ll see a number of default fields available for the signup or waiting list form. The order of default fields on forms cannot be changed. 

Required vs. Optional fields

Fields can be required or optional. If a field is required, the customer must enter an answer before submitting the form. Optional fields will still be shown on the form, but the customer is not required to enter an answer. You’ll see yes or no in each of the following columns to indicate whether the field is required, optional, or not shown on the form at all.

  • Show on signup: If Yes, the field is shown on the signup form but optional if Required on signup is No.
  • Required on signup: If Yes, the field will be shown on the signup form and is required.
  • Show on waiting list: If Yes, the field is shown on the waiting list form but optional if Required on signup is No.
  • Required on waiting list: If Yes, the field will be shown on the waiting list form and is required.

If Show on signup or Show on waiting list is no, the field won’t be shown on the applicable form.

The same fields will be shown to managers and customers, however, customer-required fields are not required for managers. Required information will have an asterisk next to the field on the customer-facing form, while optional fields do not. 

Adding or removing a question from a form

  1. Click Edit to the right of the line item you want to edit.

  1. Check the signup and/or waiting list boxes to add the field to a form. Uncheck Show on signup to remove it from the form.

  1. Click Update Custom Field to save your changes.

Custom fields

You can create custom fields in addition to the default fields available in your software.

  1. To create a custom field, scroll to the bottom of the Form Field Settings page and enter the name of the new field in the Create Custom Field section. 

  1. Select whether you want the field to be shown or required for signup and/or the waiting list.
  2. Click Create Custom Field.

You can change the order of custom fields by dragging and dropping them.

Click Update order once the custom fields are listed in your preferred order.
