DNS settings for Google domains

Follow the instructions below to connect your Google domain to ESS.

1. Use Default Nameservers 

  1. On your computer, sign in to Google Domains.
  2. Click on the name of your domain to open additional options.
  3. At the top left, click the hamburger Menu and then DNS
  4. Your current setting has “(Active)” next to it.
  5. Under “Name servers,” choose the option to use Default Name Servers.

2. Add CNAME Record

  1. Sign in to Google Domains.
  2. Click on the name of your domain to open additional options.
  3. At the top left, click the hamburger Menu and then DNS.
  4. Under “Resource Records,” click Custom Records > Manage Custom Records.
  5. Below, Add field values.
        HOST NAME: www 
        TYPE: Cname 
        TTL: 1 hour
        DATA: aws.storageunitsoftware.com 

        Click Add

 

3. Subdomain Forward 

  1. On the left hand menu, select Websites > Add Forwarding.     
  2. Edit the forward from and remove the "www", but leave the unqualified domain "____________.com" listed. (Replacing the "__________.com" with the specific facility's website address)
  3. Forward to: enter https://www.___________.com in the destination (Replacing the "_____________.com" with the specific facility's website address.)
  4. Select: Permanent 301 Redirect . 
  5. Select: Do Not Forward path. 
  6. Select: Enable SSL.
    (Pro Tip: You may run into an error when forwarding that states the SSL certificate for the site has not yet been created. Go ahead and proceed, the SSL Certificate is created automatically and will connect once it has a chance to propagate.)
  7. Click "Forward" to save.

4. Email or Call Support Once Completed

The last step in the process to connect the domain is to contact Easy Storage Solutions Support and provide us with the domain name that you are connecting to. We need to enter that information in our system in order for the point and forward settings to work and the website to go live.
